As marketing trends move more toward AI solutions, your organization should seriously consider the use of a chatbot. What are chatbots? They are automated messenger functions that leverage natural language processing to allow people to ask questions and get answers without the intervention of a human. They function 24/7 and help to boost your customer support service. They can be used on websites, messaging apps and so on.
There are two different kinds of chatbots. Rule-based and AI-based. Rule-based chatbots rely on a set of predetermined questions and responses. These are low-maintenance and easy to build.
AI-based chatbots can reply to ambiguous questions based on natural language processing and will learn from the “conversations” they have. This is a more expensive option and takes longer to acquire enough data to allow the system to learn.
Whichever option you decide to test, you’ll want to know how these bots are going to help you achieve your business objectives.
1. Automate customer support
As we mentioned, chatbots are your around-the-clock servants, automating customer support right when people need it. Not only can they answer questions or place orders, but they can help people navigate your website more quickly, saving them the time of having to search around. All of these things free your support team from repetitive inquiries and help you to be more efficient. And it helps your brand, too.
2. Inexpensive to build and install
Some chatbots can be set up in as little as ten minutes. You don’t need to know code. You just need to be able to visualize a conversation flow between the bot and a user. And many platforms are inexpensive to get up and running.
3. Perform specialized tasks
Booking an airline flight. Ordering a pizza. Purchasing a product. Yep, these are all functions that can be accomplished with a chatbot. Research shows that 47% of people would buy an item from a chatbot. There's probably an application of your business that could be automated in this way.
4. Generate leads
Chatbots can be great for lead generation as well. Say you want to get people to subscribe to your newsletter or offer a discount on one of your products. You can ask them for their email. Simple. Data shows that 63% of people would use a chatbot to communicate with an organization. This creates a big lead-generation opportunity for you.
5. Build Brand Trust
Bots are often the first interaction someone might have with your brand. If you build them well, it will be a positive experience for most people. It will help build trust with your potential customers by simplifying their experience or effectively answering their questions.
